I'm an Android spoofer myself, and I had decided to stay with Android for spoofing, when it hit the fan in April of 2018 with the old ++. Prior to that, I'd not seen or heard much about the iTools hardware devices. I'm aware of the iTools devices, however it's through people such as either u/MozambiquePro, u/Mandiechama, u/Apocalypstick77, and others over the past little over a year. Otherwise the distance is restricted to somewhere around 13 to 15 kilometers. I believe that the added piece is needed for iOS 13 as well. Granted with the latter or brand new accounts, there's only been a few, but still it shows that they're not always going to give people 3 chances. I've seen posts in this sub, where people has either been hit out of the gate with a 30 day suspension from the game, or even the first time getting hit with with the termination of their account, including new accounts, where after they were made, were logged into for the first time. There's been cases already where both has happened in the past.
As for the 3 strikes, there's is nothing stopping their program from either giving strike 2 on the first go, or even issuing a full termination of an account.
But once that happens, then it'll become a full on rolling ban of some type, for anyone using a modded version. Especially once Niantic either dials things back up with their anti-cheat program, or if they took it down, after running into issues with catching legits using iOS. Ban waves per se are pretty much a thing of the past.
